Soul Winning Traits

“His sister stood at a distance to find out what would happen to him.”  (Exodus 2:4)

Moses was born during dangerous times.  Pharaoh had issued a command that all Hebrew boys were to be killed at their birth.  Moses’ mother kept Moses hid for three months and then had to take drastic action.  She placed little Moses in a tar-pitched basket and set the basket afloat in the Nile River.  The hope was someone would find him and save him so he could live.

Someone very special joined the Lord in the salvation of Moses.  It was his sister.  She displays the traits of a heart burdened soul-winner.

1.  She recognized her brother was in serious trouble.

Moses’ sister knew if someone did not save Moses, he would perish.  This is the first step for every soul winner.    The Bible says every person who dies without Jesus is in serious trouble.  Unless a man is born again he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

2.  She had a goal of seeing her brother saved.

Moses’ sister stood by waiting for the God-given opportunity.  The Lord offers many opportunities.  Are we standing ready?

3.  She didn’t see herself as able to perform the task.

Moses’ sister knew she could not save her little brother.  It was going to take someone greater than she.

We cannot save anyone either.  We must realize that unless they come to Jesus they will likewise perish.

4.  She was bold enough to speak.

Pharoah’s daughter found the basket carrying baby Moses.  At this point his sister found enough boldness to speak to her.  This is the turning point in soul-winning.  We must seek to be bold enough to speak.  “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?”  (Romans 10:14), We have been commissioned to “go tell.”

5.  She introduced the way of deliverance for her brother.

Moses’ sister pointed the way for Moses’ salvation.  She offered to find someone to nurse little Moses and his life was saved.

The way of deliverance for all from sin is the Lord Jesus Christ.  We must point people to Him before they perish!

Today is January 30.  Do we possess the traits of a soul winner?

Blessings,

Jim
