Sin Covering
“And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red,...” (Exodus 26:14).
For review, the first curtain placed was the brilliant, quad colored curtain signifying the righteousness of Christ. The second was the black curtain made of goat’s hair signifying sin that was laid on Christ Jesus. The third curtain was made of ram’s skin dyed red. The picture of the work of Christ is becoming very clear.
The only way ram skins could be obtained is through the death of the ram. Abraham took his son Issac to Mount Moriah to offer him as a sacrifice to the LORD. Just as Abraham raised his hand the LORD sent word for him not to lay a hand on Issac. Then, “Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram , and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” (Genesis 22:13). The ram became the substitutionary sacrifice. The rams’ skins, therefore, represented the sacrifice Christ offered to atone for, or cover, our sin. The fact that the skins were dyed red reveal the blood of Christ that was necessary to atone for sin as it was laid over the black curtain. “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
Today is March 29. Oh precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow, no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus!!
Blessings,
Jim
