The Premier Attribute

“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”  (Isaiah 6:3)

There is a song that says, “When I think about the LORD...”  What do you think about when you think about the LORD?  What attributes come to mind?  Love?  Mercy?  Grace?  Healer?  Provider?  The angels cry out in recognition of the premier attribute of the LORD.  He is holy, holy, holy.  No where In Scripture is the LORD called love, love, love, or mercy, mercy, mercy, or healer, healer, healer, or provider, provider, provider.  Holiness is at the top!  Oh, how we need to be reminded of His holiness.

One definition of the LORD’s holiness is, “The holiness of God is His authentic and inexpressible purity, the standard of righteousness to which the whole universe must conform.”  Do we think of the LORD this way?  Do we live our lives this way?  Does the LORD have the premier place in our lives?  Several years ago we were preparing children for a musical and had a special rehearsal planned.  It was the same day as baseball pictures were being made.  While discussing where they needed to be, one of the boys in the group spoke up concerning the pictures and said, “But that is important.”  Baseball took precedence over the Holy One.  We may be thinking, “But that was a child.”  Yes, but what about we as adults?  Do we ever place our hobbies, jobs, interests, etc. before Him?  If so we fail to recognize who the LORD really is.  He is the Holy One who deserves the premier place in our lives.

Today is May 29. Holiness is the premier attribute of the LORD!

Blessings,

Jim
