Qualification for Heaven
“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
I was in a conversation with a lady about heaven. We both spoke of the wonder and beauty of that eternal land. Finally I asked, “Are you going to be there?” She said, “Why, yes.” “How do you know?” I asked. Responding with a question she asked, “Don’t you think I am good?”
Good? In comparison to who? The LORD is the One we must be measured against. What is His requirement? Be holy as He is holy. Who can measure up to Him? How many sins does it take to keep a person out of heaven? Scripture abounds with the seriousness of even one sin.
How many sins did it take for Adam to be put out of the garden?
How many sins did it take for Cain’s lineage to be cursed?
How many sins did it take for Moses to be kept out of the Promise Land?
How many sins did it take for Elijah’s servant to get leprosy?
How many sins did it take for Ananias and Sapphira to loose their lives?
James 2:10 says, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” Who then is good? “There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10). This is why we need the Savior. He is the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. Heaven is only guaranteed when the sinner comes Jesus in repentance and faith.
Today is May 30. Qualification for heaven can only be found in Jesus.
Blessings,
Jim
