“So he divided his wealth between them.  And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living.”  (Luke 15:12-13)

The Christian life is a journey.  It begins at the moment of salvation.  The journey has a goal that has been established in the mind of God....every believer is ”predestined to become  conformed to the image of His Son.”  This is going to happen!  The question is, “What journey will we take to arrive at the goal?”.  The truth is there are some “hard-headed children” in the family of God who desire to go their own way.  The keenness of God knows how to handle such children.  It is the school of hard knocks!  One son says, “I want my inheritance now.”  God says, “Fine.  Here you go.  You have chosen a path that I will allow you to walk down.  I promise you that you are not going to like it.  However, I know you will learn no other way.”  So the LORD offers enough slack to let the hard head go.  There is a lesson that needs to be learned and this child will learn it no other way.  This is not the “meanness of God.”  It is the “keenness of God.” Being the Loving Father, He knows how to handle each of His children.

Today is September 30.  The keenness of God is the greatness of God!!!
