Laying Aside Every Weight
“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us...” (Hebrews 12:1)
This week we have looked into the wonder of the restoring grace of our LORD. Isn’t it wonderful that we serve a God of a second chance? His forgiving grace is amazing. The “feeling” of forgiveness is overwhelming. Now the question is, “How can we go on in His grace without falling into the same sin again?” Let me offer a few pointers. First, maintain ongoing fellowship with the LORD through His Word. The Word of God gives us power over sin (Psalm 119:11). Second, allow the Word of God to transform your thinking enabling your mind to dwell on pure thoughts (Philippians 4:8). Remember that the battle is won in the mind! Third, consider your friends. Are there any that are dragging you down? Is there someone in your life that is a constant temptation? Fourth, are there places you go that cause you to compromise your faith? Fifth, is there anything in your home that allows you to be tempted? Some precautionary measures must be taken to maintain a life of holiness and purity. We know the detrimental consequences of sin. Let’s all seek to avoid such. We all know the wonderful grace of our LORD. Let’s all seek to live in it!
Today is October 31. May we all lay aside every weight that drags us down.
Blessings,
Jim
