Get Dressed!

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”  (Ephesians 6:11)

I woke up this morning, looked outside, and to my amazement, it was snowing.  It did not last very long, but the snow did send a signal and warning to me...it is cold outside!  That means decisions must be made about the way I will dress for the day.  I do not want the elements of the cold to gain the upper hand. We have another warning concerning how we should dress every day.  The warning is that the devil has planned “schemes” against us tot take us down.  That word is where we get our word “methodical” from.  Satan is methodically working to bring down everything that is godly is our lives today.  Will we dress to protect ourselves against his hellish methods?  The dress is the “full” armor of God.  We cannot leave a piece off.  This is so important that the Apostle repeats it again two verses later.  “Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day.”  (v. 13).

It takes time to dress for the cold outside.  It also takes time to dress for the attacks of the enemy.

Today is December 1.  Get dressed!

Blessings,

Jim

It's funny how God just seems to keep bringing up the question...."What is in your thought closet?" As Christians we need to be very careful what we allow into our thought closets. I know that I am personally guilty of allowing thoughts into my wardrobe that God simply never intended for me to wear. As His children we need to realize what His Word says about us. We need to remember who we are in Him and dress our minds as appropriately as we do our outward bodies. Recently during my time with the Lord, while reading a card that I had gotten for my daughter, I just felt Him say to me, "This is how I feel about you. You know what My Word says about you. Dare you call Me a liar!" It was then that I realized all over again,(feeling almost like the first time), that I am only limited by my own thoughts about myself. I don't want to wear a straight jacket...... I want to wear a garment of flowing praise! Praises for my LORD!!!!!! I put forth the question to you... What is in your thought closet? Is it cluttered with old outdated clothes? Are you in need of a new wardrobe? God will give you new attire if you only ask.
Blessings to you this holiday season!
