Open to Interruption?
“Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.’ So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt." (Matthew 2:13).
The LORD never gives frivolous instruction. He speaks to the saint with clarity and urgency. The only acceptable response to His instruction is immediate obedience. The LORD told Joseph to “Get up and go.” Oh, this instruction was ”interruptive.” It was “inconvenient.” Obedience would be “costly.” Joseph did not argue, “But LORD, it is the middle of the night.” No, “Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother...” What would have happened had Joseph delayed in obeying the LORD’s instruction? TRAGEDY! His single act of obedience resulted in eternal blessing for all of history! That is how important one act of obedience is when the LORD gives us specific instruction. Think about this as 2008 comes to a close and we embark on 2009. What instruction does the LORD have in store for you as His child? How will you respond? Are you open to letting the LORD interrupt your life with inconvenient instruction?
Today is December 31. There are great blessings in interrupted moments!
Blessings,
Jim
P.S. Belden will have a special New Year’s worship celebration tonight from 6:30 - 7:30. Come and participate if you are near. You will be blessed!
